  • A New Approach to Healing

    The Modern World of Healthcare

1_pills_200The modern world we live in today teaches us to rely primarily on what is often called conventional or modern medicine. When we get sick we are programmed to think that there is a pill or an operation that can quickly fix our ailments. Certainly there is a place for  conventional medicine in our world today. Sometimes we need the immediate attention that modern science can provide when we get injured, are in distress, or our lifeline is being threatened.

We are whole, an integration of parts

6_nuts_200Modern medicine only addresses the symptoms that manifest themselves into dysfunctions in our lives, and leaves the root causes and conditions of the problem unexplored. It only treats us as individual units. We are not machines with pieces that can be fixed or replaced. We forget that we are whole beings made up of interconnected parts that depend on each other to function. If we tinker with one thing, it affects every other aspect of our lives.

Often times, our illnesses have an underlying cause of which we are not aware. What manifests itself as disease is an indication that our lives are in “dis-ease.”

EatingThis means that our lives are in disharmony. When we think about our health, we have to consider everything that comprises our whole being, from the things that we eat, the air we breathe, the people that surround us, to the thoughts and emotions we carry within us.  These variables combine together to create the constitution that is the self.

At Beyond Wisdom, we cherish the notion of integrity; we consider our system as an integration of our internal and external environments. There is an energetic system that surrounds us and embodies every aspect of our lives, past and present. Only when we begin to think of ourselves as being composed of all the things that affect us within and without can we begin to find true healing.
